A diddy card for my first Creative Studio DT post

Hello folks!!  Just imagine my excitement when Sam asked me to be on her design team.  To say I was thrilled is an understatement.  I have long admired Sam's designs and am now fortunate enough to be one of the few who gets to play with them before they are released.  (*Thank  you Sam*)

For my first card (4x4inches) I inked the edges and melted in some Cosmic Shimmer UTE Crystals in Gold lustre. I took a small piece of script patterned paper from my stash mountain, inked the edges and embossed it with my Cuttlebug and a Polka Dot Mask.  I lightly rubbed over the embossing with black ink.  I die cut the doily shape (Cheery Lynn) from some tissue paper (I think this was packaging) I inked with distress inks; scrunched it up a bit before adhering to the card.  Once stuck in place I blobbed some more of the UTEC on top of the doily.
The stamped main image is from the newly released Butterfly Girl stamp set.  I stamped her; cut her out; masked off the head and the body and sprayed her wings with glimmer mists.  When I took the mask off some of the glue dots from my herma glue remained and I quite liked it... so I left them on.  I added Sepia Accents to her body and head.  I coloured the rose with alcohol markers before embossing with the UTEC.  The words are from the new Art Saying stamp set, fabulous words that I know I'll be using again and again.  The finishing touches on this card are the cosmic shimmer pearl dots in Golden Pearl and Choco Brown and of course my trademark Ribbon bow.
I sent this card to my crafty buddy Sue Hill who celebrated her birthday today :o)
That's all from me today folks!
Hugs

Lots to share ...and an announcement!!

Hello folks!! Grab yourself a cuppa I've got lots to share with you.  I haven't been able to blog much as I've been busy busy creating.  So, without further ado, here are a couple of my crafty makes.
I made this layout of My Boy Ben for the current Scrapology challenge.  There is a fantastic page by Karola Witczak to scraplift and oodles of inspiration from my fellow Design team members.
The papers have been in my stash mountain for years, I'm so pleased I've used them.  The circle frames are chipboard that I have inked.  I made the cute little aliens using my Cricut and added a finishing touch with some gems and a ribbon.

Over on the Joanna Sheen Challenge blog there is a great 'Flower Power' challenge and lots of beautiful cards made by the DT for your perusal.
I decided to make a card using an image from the Jane Shasky CDrom.  I had so much fun making the decoupage.... I'm one of those weird people that actually likes cutting out.  If you click on one of the pictures to enlarge it you'll see just how much glitter I encrusted the flowers in.  I'm happy to report that the card was for my Mother-in-law and she loved it.
It's fanfare time Toot Toot.... (I'm sure you've guessed from the banner)  I am absolutely thrilled to announce that the lovely Sam Poole has invited me to be on her very first Creative Studios Design Team!!  and what a team... Sam Poole, Suzee Murphy, Jacqui Dennis and little ol' me.
Sam has tonnes of crafty gorgeousness in her shop and has just launched her new stamp range I have had a play with the new stamps and they are truly creative and fun, I know you'll love them. I'll share my creations soon.  So hop on over and check out Sam's stunning designs.
If you've made it to the end of this post.... I salute you!
Ciao for now!

Triple Cameo card

Hello folks!  Here's a card I made to showcase Joanna Sheen's new Cameo stamps.  I was inspired by those beautiful triple mirrors that ladies used to have on their dressing tables.... there's probably a name for them but I can't think of it right now.
To make it I just folded some cardstock to make a long thin card.  I then measured the length of the spine and made two vertical cuts which gave me three equal flaps on the front.  The centre one I folded in half to make a regular easel base.  The two outer panels I folded diagonally to make the twisted easel bases.
I stamped the images onto blue card and  heat embossed them with white detail embossing powder.  I cut the shape out and adhered to the relevant panel.  I then cut away the parts of the flaps that were showing behind the frame.
I used some DCWV patterned paper on the bottom.  I stamped and embossed some of the corners and other details which I used as the easel stoppers.  I finished off the design with gems, pearls and ribbons.
I hope you have had a great weekend.

Drip drip drop little April Showers....

Hello folks!  Here's a little card to brighten your April showers.  I made this card for my friend Christine Dark who celebrates her birthday in April.  It follows the Scrapology card challenge brief of  'Showers'.  This may be interpreted as you wish, rain, baby or bridal showers.
For my card I used WRMK Tiffany papers which I layered onto Kraft card .  I coloured the stamped Hanglar image with alcohol markers.

I added glossy accents to the blue panel and puddled it at the characters feet.
I coloured the ribbon with the alcohol markers to match the character.  I added a decorative corner die cut from pink funky foam for the finishing touch.
I hope you'll be able to join in with this months fun challenge.  There's lots of lush inspiration provided by my fellow teamies here.

Scrapology Challenge - L is for Lace

Hello folks! I hope you are enjoying a fabulous Easter Weekend.  If you haven't already seen, there is a great new challenge over on Scrapology this month.  A brilliant sketch and scraplift from a layout by BettyLou1 with a generous prize offered by Jill at Cardinal Colours.
For my page I dug deep into my stash mountain and found this soft paper collection by K&Co, just perfect for this photo of Isabelle in my Mum and Dad's garden
I cut the large scalloped circle on my Cricut.  The flowers were dimensional stickers.  I added some extra sparkle to the centre of the flowers and to the butterfly on the original sheet.
I coloured some white ribbon with my alcohol markers and layered some sheer ribbon on top before tying the bow.
For the letters I die cut some card and covered them with glitter... a little afeared that the glitter would shed I encapsulated it with glossy accents.  Really pleased how they turned out.... I'll be using that technique again.
I hope you'll be able to join in with this months challenge.  For some fabulous inspiration look no further than the layouts by my uber talented fellow DT.

Joanna Sheen Challenge 'It's a Man's World'

Hi folks!! Just a quickie from me..... I seem so busy these days.  Hoping to catch up with you all soon.  This is a card I made for this month's challenge over on the Joanna Sheen Challenge blog.  We have Just become a bi-monthly (rather than monthly) challenge, so lots more opportunities for you to join in with the fun and, of course, win more fabulous prizes.  I made this card using a really striking image and backing paper from the Jane Netley Mayhew CDrom 2.  I used a Martha Stewart punch to create the photo corners and my trusty Cricut to cut the letters.  Just a touch of raffia and an animal print button to finish the card off.
There are lots of gorgeous creations made by my fellow teamies if you would like some inspiration.
Ciao for now!

Scrapology March Card Challenge

Hello folks!  I thought it was about time I shared one of my crafty creations with you.  Here's a card I made for this months challenge over on the Scrapology blog which is sponsored by Charmed Cards and Crafts. More info, details of the prize and fabulous inspiration from my fellow DT can be found here.

This is actually another one of my diddy cards measuring no larger than 4 inches in height.  One of the things I like about Digtal stamps is that they can be resized to fit your project.  The paper I used is a freebie from a magazine.  I coloured the image with watercolour paints and cut it out with my Nestabilities.
With just a little raffia and some paper roses my card was finished :o)
I hope you have a chance to play along with the challenge this month.  I look forward to seeing your creations.
Ciao for now!
