Hello folks! There's another great challenge over on Scrapology this month. We're scraplifting a wonderful layout by Pam Thorburn with the added challenge of 'M is for monochrome'. I'm so pleased with how my page turned out as it uses so little stash yet offers a rich and full page. It's basically made from 3 sheets of WRMK plain 12x12, some velvet ric rac and some rhinestones.
Once I decided on the photo I was going to use (a tricky decision I can assure you) I thought the best way to highlight the different layers using the same card was to add lots of texture. I hand embossed the lines to create the diamond lattice on my Martha Stewart scoreboard; I punched the scallop border and inked the edges. I also used some of the hand embossed card and die cut it with the Tim Holtz Tattered Rose die for some of the petals. I embossed some of the petals with a dotty embossing folder. I also used (a discontinued) Little Claire spiral flower die to create the centres of the flowers and die cut some leaves. All the pieces are shaped and inked before adhering.
I created the title, using my Gypsy and Cricut, welding alphas from different fonts for a fun look. I covered the words with glossy accents and accented some of the letters with rhinestones.
I die cut the butterflies from the same cardstock, inked through the die and around the edges and added rhinestones to the body and the antennae.
The photo is of my and my son, Tommy's croc's (back in 2007 - he now wears shoes nearly 4 sizes bigger than mine) I've added a little file tag ( with the instruction to 'pull') to a piece of cardstock and slipped it behind the photo for journalling.
I found it very difficult to stick to the Monochromatic challenge as I wanted to add splashes of blue. However I like how the eye is drawn straight to Tommy's Croc's on the layout.
To join in with the challenge, find lots of fabulous inspiration from my fellow DT and take a peek at the prize up for grabs.... head over to Scrapology.
Ciao for now!

Hi Sandra, Wow! Wow! Wow! This is the best scrap page I have EVER seen. The single added colour of the Crocs, draws your eye straight to them. Then you can weave your way around all the stunning embellishments. Magical and so atmospheric. Clever lady! Hugs, Carol S.xx
